The Whitsundays
The Whitsundays are a series of 74 tiny coral islands off Queensland's coast. The white sand and sea fragrances of the beaches and islands here are well-known. A vast green forest and hiking trails also surround the coastline.
Hamilton Island is the most important of all the islands, as it has all of the key living points. Airlie Beach is also one of the top spots to visit in Australia during the summer. All of the island group's entertaining activities, including throwball competitions and handball events, take place on these beaches.
The Whitsunday Islands were named one of Queensland's Q150 Icons as a "Nature Attraction" in 2009, commemorating the 150th anniversary of Queenland's separation from New South Wales.
