Bolgoda Lake
Bolgoda Lake or Bolgoda River is a freshwater lake that straddles the border between Kalutara District and Colombo District in the Western Province of Sri Lanka. It is made up of two primary bodies of water, one in the north and one in the south, joined by the Bolgoda River. At the estuary at Panadura, the lake empties into the ocean.
Apart from being a peaceful location with amazing views, individuals may engage in a number of enjoyable activities like fishing, water skiing, kayaking, jet-skiing, canoeing, and sailing. For those who want to stay or eat well while visiting Bolgoda Lake, there are a lot of excellent villas, resorts, and restaurants located around the lake.
The Sri Lankan government asserts that 90% of developments have not received the necessary environmental approval, making illegal constructions close to the lake a significant rising problem. The lake and its surroundings also face problems with pollution and improper rubbish disposal. Efforts to safeguard the wetlands are supported by the Sri Lankan Navy and Police.
