Sembuwatta Lake

Within the Sri Lankan town of Elkaduwa, in the Matale district, is the picturesque Sembuwatta Lake. Sembuwatta Lake, a serene and gorgeous man-made lake filled with fresh spring water, is located close to Campbell's Lane Forest Reserve.

Alongside Sembuwatta Lake is a natural swimming hole. The lake serves as both a vital source of electricity for the several nearby villages and welcome addition to Sri Lanka's extensive list of tourist destinations. Sembuwatta Lake is a well-known location for picnics, hiking, and nature walks. It is surrounded by lovely pine trees and is perched on top of a mountain. Sembuwatta Lake is between thirty and ninety feet deep.

The abundance of adventure activities offered, including zip line, swan/motor boat riding, canoeing, and hiking, places the lake at the top as a leisure and family tourism destination. Since the lake is relatively deep (30 - 40 ft), bathing and swimming are not permitted there; instead, a separate pool was constructed for that purpose.
