Boston Bay
Head to Boston Bay in Jamaica's Port Antonio Parish if you want to catch a wave. Because there are waves here all year, surfers are always out on their boards. If you don't know how to surf, there are locals who offer instruction at surf camps, or you can simply sit back on the small beach and enjoy the spectacle of surfers doing their thing. The neighborhood is well-known for its jerk chicken and pork, so come hungry and enjoy the local delicacies. This magnificent white-sand length, just a five-minute drive east of Port Antonio, is Jamaica's only beach with surfable waves. Boston Bay is also one of the island's few surviving public beaches.
It continues to draw more locals than tourists and, as a result, is almost entirely free of vendors. You may either watch the kids splash around on their boards or rent your own for a Surfing 101 class. Be warned: the waves can be flat at times, as they are at many beaches, but you can distract yourself with a short walk down the beach to the famous Boston Bay jerk chicken stalls.
