Brian Williams

Brian Williams is the current Chief Anchor for MSNBC's television news department. He is the news station's nightly host of "The 11th Hour with Brian Williams." From 2004 until 2014, Williams was the managing editor and host of "NBC Nightly News."


Williams was fired from NBC after it was discovered that he had made up tales concerning his coverage of the Iraq War in 2003. Williams was born in 1959 in New Jersey. He went to George Washington University and The Catholic University of America to study. Before joining NBC in 1993, he worked in radio news in Kansas, Washington, DC, and Philadelphia.


He was the station's Chief White House Correspondent. Williams was a substitute anchor on "NBC Nightly News" for Tom Brokaw before taking over as anchor in 2004. Williams and his wife of 30 years live in Connecticut. Allison, their daughter, starring in HBO's "Girls." Their son works as a sports anchor in New York City.
