Shepard Smith
David Shepard Smith Jr. is an American television journalist who works for NBC News and CNBC as the lead general news anchor and broadcasts The News with Shepard Smith, a daily evening newscast that will debut in the autumn of 2020. Smith is most known for his 23-year tenure with Fox News Channel, which he joined in 1996 and served as chief anchor and managing editor of the breaking news division.
During his time at Fox News, Smith presented various shows, including Fox Report, Studio B, and Shepard Smith Reporting. Smith came out as homosexual in 2017, sparking homophobic outcry from conservative Fox viewers, some of whom asked that his show be cancelled.
He departed the station in 2019. Smith remarked in a 2021 interview with Christiane Amanpour that his participation on Fox had become "untenable" owing to the "falsehoods" and "lies" purposefully broadcast on the network's opinion programming.
