The story of Bridge Road begins in 2000 when young Ben Kraus, a native of Beechworth, travels to Europe to learn more about the world and the art of wine making. Along the way, he was distracted on the ski slopes of Austria, met his wife Maria and ended up working at a traditional brewery in Innsbruck.


Filmmaking quickly took the backseat, and Ben returned home a brewer (along with Maria), determined to bring quality to what was largely the bland beer scene in Australia.


In 2020, Bridge Road HQ has a 340-seat dining room, a pizzeria and a 25HL brewery. Bridge Road's success, built on the hard work of Ben and Maria, is a reflection of their strong values - The importance of independence, authenticity and quality.
