Hop Nation

Hop Nation is a craft brewery based in Footscray, independently owned and operated by good friends - and former winemakers - Sam Hambour and Duncan Gibson.

Hop Nation started out as a pipe dream for them and like most dreams, experimenting with a little bit of savings while trying to get the job done every day was the first goal. They then founded the company, came up with the brand and label ideas with some friends, launched their first IPA beer and released THE FIEND in May 2015.

They've been brewing in Footscray for over 6 years now, and they love the hop-forward style and experiment with quality ingredients. Their small batch beers are made using quality, natural ingredients, no filtration or pasteurization and minimal filtration. With a name like Hop Nation, hops are a natural focus but as their brewing origins are always inevitable, Sam and Dunc have no shortage of seasoned brewers in the field with the Fermentation Project at their site. Most recently, they have also returned to winemaking under their Site Wine lab,el, with a vineyard on the Mornington Red Hill Peninsula.
