Bridget Jones's Diary
Bridget Jones's Diary is a romantic comedy film directed by Sharon Maguire and written by Richard Curtis, Andrew Davies, and Helen Fielding, which was released in 2001. It is based on Fielding's 1996 novel of the same name, which is a reinterpretation of Jane Austen's 1813 classic Pride and Prejudice. It is a co-production of the United Kingdom, the United States, and France.
Bridget Jones, a 32-year-old English single woman who keeps a journal about the things she wants to happen in her life, is played by Renée Zellweger in the adaption. Her existence, however, is turned upside down when two men, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant, compete for her attention. Production began in August 2000 and lasted in November 2000, with the majority of the filming taking place on location in London and the surrounding areas.
