Notting Hill, which was released on May 21, 1999, was well-received by reviewers and went on to become the highest-grossing British film of all time. Roger Michell directed the romantic comedy film Notting Hill in 1999. Richard Curtis wrote the screenplay, while Duncan Kenworthy directed and produced the film.


The story revolves around a romance between a London bookseller (Grant) and a well-known American actress (Roberts), who happens to come into his store. The film received two BAFTA nominations and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, with Roberts and Grant receiving awards for their respective performances. The soundtrack was also nominated for a British Comedy Award and a Brit Award.
