Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation
Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation is one of the four missions of the Tzu Chi Foundation, which was founded by Master Cheng Yen in 1966. The medical organization has set up six hospitals in Hualien, Taipei, Taichung, Dalin, Yuli, and Kuanshan to provide quality medical services health check-ups for the entire Taiwanese population ( refer: top10asia.org )
The hospital offers a wide range of services, including organ transplantation, surgery with state-of-the-art laser technology, and technologically advanced health checks. Other areas of expertise include stroke treatment, melanoma treatment, orthopedic surgery, and stem cell research.
Many international patients with severe illness and unusual symptoms will mostly come for treatment at this hospital in Hualien, the most important medical center in eastern Taiwan. The separation of conjoined twins, Lea and Rachel, from the Philippines in June 2003 is one such famous case that resonated around the world.
