West China Hospital
West China Hospital of Sichuan University - WCH, also known as Huaxi Hospital or The International Hospital of Sichuan Province, is a prestigious and well-known medical center located in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province.
When the 8.0 magnitude Wenchuan earthquake hit Sichuan province in 2008, WCH, as the regional medical center closest to the earthquake's epicenter, operated as a "Diagnostic Center" diagnosing and treating earthquake-injured and patients with difficult and complex illnesses," as a "Technical Assistance Center for Hospitals in Affected Areas," and as "Logistics Support Center for Emergency Medical Teams from Other Provinces." WCH at that time achieved a number of feats in the history of medical rescue efforts. After the earthquake, WCH was called the "backbone" of medical rescue efforts by the media.
The hospital's staff was praised by Premier Wen Jiabao as "not only morally respectable but also highly skilled," and the hospital was awarded the honorary title of "Hero Organization in Relief and Relief" by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the State Council and the Central Military Commission. A 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck Yushu in China's Qinghai province on April 14, 2010. West China Hospital dispatched a medical team to the disaster area on the same day, after which donated medical supplies to support relief work in the area. Meanwhile, the hospital treats more earthquake victims than other hospitals outside Qinghai province. (refer: https://www.wchscu.cn/ )
