Bull Dog Reef

The coral reef of Kalpitiya's Bull Dog Reef is probably the most spectacular in the Kalpitiya region and among the Best Dive Spots in Sri Lanka. This dive site is great for those interested in macrophotography and underwater photography. In shallow waters, you'll find crocodile fish, white-eared moray eels, and panther turbots, all of which are unusual in Sri Lankan waters.


During the dive, you may come across one or more Napoleon fish. Bull Dog Reef is a shallow, well-lit reef located near Kalpitiya in Sri Lanka's northwest. This location offers various opportunities for total seclusion, such as diving as a type of meditation in a wide sea. This diving site is ideal for spectacular underwater photography in bright sunlight.


The average water temperature is 26 degrees Celsius (79 degrees Fahrenheit). From late November to early May, the optimum time to snorkel at Bull Dog Reef is. The months of December through April are ideal for observing dolphins and whales. During the off-season, the sea is rough and visibility is poor. White-eyed moray eels, Napoleon wrasses, and panther flounder are among the fish species. Flat heads, which are uncommon in other regions of Sri Lanka, are abundant at Bull Dog Reef.
