Bungva lake
Bungva Lake is a sizable freshwater lake in Laos that is adjacent to Savannakhet. Locals frequently picnic there and hang out there on the weekends and on holidays. When visiting Savannakhet, it is one of the sights worth seeing for travelers who want to take a leisurely stroll, see a sunset or sunrise, or go boating.
There are numerous eateries and shops along the well-maintained lake. This is a great place to visit and relax with a beer, a series of floating restaurants sit on a shallow lake. Great on weekends with friends or in the afternoon for a quiet beer. After passing by a monument and a few small villages, you will reach the lake’s edge and be met by a beautiful view out across the water, with buffaloes grazing and a solitary canoe gliding peacefully along. All around the lake farmers toiled in rolling green fields. You will pass stilted restaurants in the water as you cycle around the lake. It would have been a perfect setting for lunch with a cold beer.
The lake is used for fishing, drinking water, irrigation, and other uses. Reeds can grow in the area on the other side of the dam and are harvested during the wet season to be woven into reed mats. Additionally, Bungva lake is an excellent location for gatherings like the Boat Racing Festival and the Rocket Festival. This is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in Laos.
