Located 30 km north of Thakhek town, Khammouane province, Khoun Kong Leng lake has crystal blue water and is considered the most beautiful lake in Laos. The lake water comes from the underground river that has been filtered through the limestone layers located around the mountains, so it has such clarity.


The small but spectacular Khoun Kong Leng, with a shady picnic area, is a popular swimming spot. Additionally, there are rumors that this respected lake contains gems at its bottom or that soaking in it can give you eternal youth. Phou Hin Poun National Protected Area offers routes for walking around the lake and into the forest nearby (NPA). The scenery around Khoun Kong Leng is quite beautiful with natural and harmonious scenery. A relaxing walk on the trail leading around the forest, admiring the charming landscape painting, listening to the harmony of trees and water, or bathing in the permitted area will be extremely interesting experiences here. It is one of the most beautiful lakes in Laos.
