Cayuga Lake

The longest and second-largest in terms of surface area and volume is Cayuga Lake, one of the glacial Finger Lakes in central New York. It measures just around 63 kilometers. Its maximum width, close to Aurora, is 5.6 km wide, with an average width of 2.8 km. With more than 153 kilometers of shoreline, it has a maximum depth of about 133 m.

Glaciers created yet another stunning water source a very long time ago. This one, Cayuga Lake, was located in the picturesque Finger Lakes region. Cayuga is the second-deepest Finger Lake and the longest. It is well known as the lake that reaches the shores of Ithaca and is famous for hosting activities including boating, sailing, swimming, and fishing.

This lake's length, which is about 40 miles, gives visitors plenty of room to get lost. There are plenty of access spots along the shore, so don't worry—this is a great destination for families. Boaters that like recreational sailing frequent Cayuga Lake.

At the southern end of the lake in Ithaca lies the Allan H. Treman State Marine Park, which features a sizable state marina and boat launch. On the western side, there are two yacht clubs: Red Jacket Yacht Club is a short distance south of Canoga, and Ithaca Yacht Club is a few miles north of Ithaca. Along the lake shore, there are numerous other marinas and boat launches.
