Cherry Beach Sports

Cherry Beach Sports Fields were formally inaugurated by Waterfront Toronto in September 2008. The two regulatory elite soccer and lax fields contribute to Toronto's growing demands for playing areas. They align with Waterfront Toronto's objective to provide recreational possibilities along the waterfront. The state-of-the-art fields are equipped to support a variety of leisure sports, including field hockey, football, ultimate Frisbee, as well as soccer and lacrosse.

The City of Toronto, the Toronto Port Lands, and Waterfront Toronto collaborated on the development of the fields (formerly TEDCO). The two sectors are regulation-sized. By recovering unused space, they contribute to the entertainment of Toronto inhabitants and serve the Greater Toronto Area. Artificial turf regions provide premium-level playing surfaces. They are accessible for maximum usage during the prolonged playing season, and have a life expectancy of 20-25 years. Artificial surfaces here are unparalleled in their capabilities. They boost soil remediation while also offering low-maintenance surfaces.

Overall, the Cherry Beach Sports project involves the development of two additional grounds, a children's area, and the associated facilities. Furthermore, future restoration includes a new planting project that establishes a diversified and sustainable native plant population. It also enhances the natural features of grove areas. To manage onsite drainage, a potted bioswale and a marsh area are included into the overall landscaping, which also benefits the soils remediation scheme.
