Hangar Sports & Event Center

The Hangar Sport & Events Center made its debut on November 1st, 1997. Ever since, it has rapidly been regarded as the destination to play indoor matches in Toronto. The facility had five indoor synthetic turf fields, and was instrumental in the development of Ontario indoor soccer.

Prior to becoming an indoor sports complex, Dehavilland Aircraft Company owned and operated the facilities, which employed around 2,400 people. Thousands of aircraft were built at the factory, including the Tiger Moth, the Mosquito Fighter-Bomber, and the Avro Anson. Due to the ongoing military development in the mid-1950s, Dehavilland relocated its activities to newly built contemporary buildings in the southeast area of Downsview Ranch, where they remain as Bombardier today.

Today, The Hangar Sport and Events Center has 4 indoor sports fields, a roller hockey arena, 2 multi-sport facilities, and three full-size astro turf soccer fields on the outside side. Furthermore, the enterprise includes various outdoor event spaces that can accommodate around 1,000 to 40,000 attendees. Downsview Park has also hosted thousands of community cultural events throughout the years, including performances by the AC/DC and the Rolling Stones.
