Christopher "Chris" Julius Rock is an American actor, comedian, writer, producer, and director. Rock started his career with stand-up performances. After his stand-up career, he began acting in small roles in films. He designed, wrote and composed the sitcom Everyone Hates Chris (2005-2009) based on his own childhood.


Hosted the 77th Academy Awards in 2005 and the 88th Academy Awards in 2016, Chris Rock has won 4 Emmys and 3 Grammys. According to a poll conducted by Comedy Central, he was ranked #5 on the list of the best comedians. In the UK, it was named the ninth-largest stand-up comic on Channel 4's "100 Greatest Stand-Ups" in 2007, and the 8th largest stand-up comic on the 2010 Updates list.
