Darrell Island
Darrell's Island is a small island in Bermuda's Great Sound. It's in Warwick Parish's northwestern corner, on the southeast side. Bermuda is the only owner of the island.
Imperial Airways established an aviation station on Darrell's Island in 1936. Imperial Airways and Pan American used this as a stopover on their regular trans-Atlantic flights. During WWII, the island was taken over by the Royal Air Force Bermuda. It reverted to civil operations after the war, until air services were relocated to new land-based facilities at Kindley Field (now Bermuda International Airport). Following that, Darrell's Island was temporarily used as a filming location.
Historic mansions and old-fashioned buildings are the most well-known features of this island.
