Delphi

Delphi is an ancient town in Greece. It is the site of the most important Greek temple. It locates in Phocis territory on the lower slopes of Mount Parnassus, about 10 kilometers from the Gulf of Corinth. Delphi is now an archaeological site with well-preserved ruins. In 1987, it was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

This complex of ancient architectural monuments is located at an altitude of about 500-700m above sea level, above is Phaidriades cliff, below is Kas-taliam stream. In the vast archaeological site, the temple of Apollo is an important site. All architectural and artistic works in the relic complex focus on the theme of worshiping Apolo - the son of the sun god, a supreme saint that the ancient Greeks always honored as the god of light, god of poetry, god of music, god of prophecy, and the most beautiful and powerful god, embodying the lofty ideals of the ancient Greeks. Above the temple, there is a theatre, a stadium, and an arena near the Castalic springs. All of which catered to the Pythian competitions throughout ancient Greece. Across the stream is the church of Athena Pronaia. The most famous building is the Tholos marble roundhouse, built in the early 4th century BC.

Today, the ruins of the Delphi temple site are the archaeological site of Delphi, discovered by French archaeologists in 1893. Immediately this site became one of the important archaeological sites in Greece and the world. Annual delegations of archaeologists from all over the world come here to learn and research. However, after being discovered, to serve archeological work to reconstruct the best historical image, archaeologists moved the village of Kastri to a different location that did not match the actual when it was discovered in ancient times. It caused some damage to the Delphi archaeological sites by losing their originality.
