Diamond Beach
Diamond Beach in Iceland is one of the most popular and visited beaches in Iceland. The Diamond Beach is an area of black sand on Iceland's south coast that is part of the larger Breiamerkursandur glacial plain. It is located near the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. The stunning big pieces of ice that wash up on the beach's coastline from the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon inspired the name. The best aspect is that these ice chunks resemble massive ice diamonds rocks. This is by far one of the most unique destinations on the planet, and where else can you witness a beach covered in ice diamonds?
Because the beach is close to the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, you can stop by there as well. This glacier, Breiamerkurjökull, is part of the Vatnajökull Glacier National Park, and some of the massive chunks of ice are over 1000 years old. Visiting this beach is like walking into a wonderful universe that awaits your exploration. If you're lucky, you'll see a few seals swimming in the ocean or sunbathing on the beach. So, make a point of visiting Diamond Beach in Iceland.
