Digha–Sonpur Bridge
The Digha–Sonpur Bridge is a rail-cum-road bridge across the river Ganga, connecting Digha Ghat in Patna and Pahleja Ghat in Sonpur, Saran district in the Indian state of Bihar. It bears the activist for Indian independence Jayaprakash Narayan's name. The railroad bridge connects Bihar's northern and southern regions with ease via both a railroad and a road. A steel truss bridge, that is. The first day of regularly scheduled passenger rail service on this route was February 3, 2016. The Bogibeel Bridge in Assam is the longest rail-road bridge in India, with this bridge's length of 4,556 meters (14,948 feet) coming in second.
This is Bihar's second railway bridge connecting North Bihar and South Bihar after Rajendra Setu. Patliputra Junction railway station (PPTA) and Bharpura Pahleja Ghat Junction railway station (PHLG) are the two stations built by Indian Railways on either side of the bridge. The Digha-Sonpur bridge and Digha Bridge Halt are separated by about two kilometers.
