DNB Bank

DNB ASA (previously DnB NOR ASA) is Norway's largest financial services business, with more than NOK 1.9 trillion in total assets and a market capitalization of NOK 164 billion as of 20 May 2016. DNB's headquarters are in Oslo.

The Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Industry owns 34.0 percent of DNB, while Sparebankstiftelsen DnB NOR owns 10.0%. The latter was established as a foundation with the sole intention of acquiring a stake in the company. It was established when Gjensidige NOR became a public limited company in order to ensure that the firm's customers retained a portion of the company's ownership. The foundation can additionally donate up to 25% of its dividend earnings to charity.

The DNB Bank Group is the DNB Group's main entity and Norway's largest bank, providing services to the corporate, retail, and securities markets, as well as the public sector. DNB Markets is an investment bank in Norway, Cresco is a finance company, DNB Eiendom is a real estate agency, and DNB Asset Management is a fund manager for institutional clients in Norway and Sweden. In the Norwegian financial market, DNB has the largest customer base. DNB has about 2.3 million retail customers and over 200,000 corporate clients in Norway, with 61 branch offices.

Although the group's activities are mostly concentrated in Norway, it is one of the world's leading shipping banks and a key international player in the energy sector. It has 27 branches and representative offices around the world.

DNB used to brand itself as DnB NORD in Denmark, Finland, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, where it was initially a joint venture with the German bank Norddeutsche Landesbank, with DNB owning the entire stake since December 23, 2010. The bank was rebranded and adopted the uniform DNB brand throughout these nations on November 11, 2011. DNB has 930,000 customers and 163 branch locations in these countries.
