Dr Richard Lee
Dr. Richard Lee is a highly talented London-based consultant ophthalmologist. He specializes in the treatment of glaucoma and cataracts and is well-versed in all aspects of ophthalmology. He is the glaucoma service's chief physician at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where his expertise in glaucoma surgery, including the use of laser technology, has benefited many patients.
Dr. Lee graduated from University College London and then went on to complete specialised ophthalmology training in the London Deanery. He went on to get his MSc in Surgical Technology from Imperial College London, where he received honors for his thesis on the optimization of an artificial cornea device. Following that, he pursued a clinical research fellowship supported by a prominent National Institute for Health Research innovation award, during which he focused on the creation of a novel surgical glaucoma device. This resulted in the awarding of a PhD from the University College London Institute of Ophthalmology as well as an international translational research prize from the International Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO).
Dr. Lee has over 50 academic publications and book chapters to his credit. He has given national and international presentations and served on committees for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, the British Ophthalmic Anaesthesia Society, and the United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He is still very interested in research and surgical innovation.
