El Ranchito Mexican Restaurant

It's tacky, rowdy, and obviously popular. So, especially on weekends, don't be shocked to see a queue snaking out the door. The actual draw of this decades-old institution is the cuisine, not the wandering mariachi bands, Elvis impersonators (Wednesday evenings), or the quirky décor (pietas, wagon wheel chandeliers, and the like). El Ranchito is known for its Northern Mexican cuisine, which includes mollejas (beef sweetbreads), fried tripe, and a grilled baby goat. If all of this seems a bit too experimental for your taste buds, don't worry; the restaurant also serves all of the standard Tex-Mex fares.

El Ranchito is a fantastic spot to take your children. If you want to park near the restaurant, arrive early; otherwise, you'll have to park across the street.
