Elagabalus married three women and a man
Like many previous Roman Emperors, Elagabalus, the youngest, had an unstable marital situation. He was married four times, once to a man and three times to a woman.
On August 29, 219 AD, he wed Julia Cornelia Paula, his first wife. She and he were married for a year until he decided to end their union on August 28, 220 AD. His second spouse was Julia Aquilia Severa, who was once known as Vestal Virgin. After he had raped her to sire godlike offspring from her, she was compelled to wed him. Elagabalus' third wife was Annia Aurelia Faustina, who was descended from Marcus Aurelius. To marry Annia, he had Pomponius Bassus put to death. Elagabalus divorced Annia Faustina and wedded Aquilia Severa during his reign last year, nevertheless. Despite having three wives, he never had children.
Elagabalus' mixed feelings for men and women made his sexual orientation unclear. He wed Hierocles, a former slave and charioteer from Caria, following his second divorce from Aquilia.
