Explore Castle in the Clouds
There are several activities available for guests at this distinctive site in Moultonborough. You may take a tour of a historic 16-room estate on a mountainside that was constructed in 1913 and includes some early contemporary conveniences like a central vacuum system. From late May until late October, you can take the first two levels of the home on a self-guided tour. Adults must pay $18 and minors between the ages of 5 and 17 must pay $10. For $15, visitors can also enjoy a 45-minute guided tour of the mansion's basement. The cost of the guided tour and the self-directed tour is $25 each. Additionally, visitors can spend the day trekking the more than 28 miles of beautiful trails. Marked pathways offer easy hikes to waterfalls or difficult treks to mountain tops.
It is free to use the trails of the Castle in the Clouds Conservation Area for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and summer walks. On-site amenities include a gift store, a cafe, and restaurant with outdoor dining and stunning views of the nearby mountains and lake. Given that Castle in the Clouds is situated in a rural area of the Lakes Region, there aren't many hotels close by. The closest hotel may be Center Harbor Inn, which is situated directly on Lake Winnipesaukee and offers its visitors a sandy beach as well as kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals.
