Walk in Prescott Park
A waterfront park with more than 10 acres, Prescott Park is located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Josie and Sarah Prescott, two sisters, paid for the land in the 1930s. The sisters, who were both public school teachers, had meticulously acquired and cleared estates along the Piscataqua River using an inheritance. The sisters wanted to replace the decaying and filthy industrial neighborhood with a public waterfront park that was free and open to all. The Prescott sisters' trust was created with $50,000 in 1949. [Reference needed] In 1954, the park was left to the city of Portsmouth as a public amenity.
Visitors visiting Prescott Park in Portsmouth, a seaside city, gush about the stunning flowers and attractive plants as well as how well the gardeners maintain the grounds over the summer. There are seats for rest and thought, and the 10-acre waterfront park is a beautiful location to stroll and take in the sights and scents of the tranquil setting. There is no cost to enter the park. Theater performances, movies, and concerts are held in the park during the summer. The Ale House Inn, located in a former brewery warehouse built in 1880, is close to the park.
