Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Fast Times at Ridgemont High is a 1982 American comedy-drama film directed by Amy Heckerling (in her feature directorial debut). The film follows sophomores Stacy Hamilton (Jennifer Jason Leigh) and Mark Ratner (Brian Backer) through a school year, as well as their older pals Linda Barrett (Phoebe Cates) and Mike Damone (Robert Romanus), who feel they are wiser in the ways of romance than their younger counterparts.
The film is known based on Cameron Crowe's book Fast Times at Ridgemont High: A True Story. Crowe went undercover to San Diego's Clairemont High School and recorded his experiences. The Library of Congress chose the film for preservation in the United States National Film Registry in 2005, describing it as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
