Heathers
Heathers is a 1989 American black comedy teen film written and directed by Daniel Waters and Michael Lehmann. Christian Slater, Shannen Doherty, Lisanne Falk, Kim Walker, and Penelope Milford star in the film. The film follows four young girls in a clique at an Ohio high school, three of whom are called Heather, one of whose lives are disrupted when a misanthrope arrives bent on murdering the popular kids and staging their deaths as suicides.
Heathers had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 21, 1989, and was released theatrically in the United States by New World Pictures on March 31, 1989. Despite its failure at the box office, the film got positive reviews and was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature. It has now become a cult classic and is widely recognized as one of the best coming-of-age films ever made.
