Festival Akini-a-loubou
Festival Akini-a-loubou is a two-week contemporary dance festival held in Libreville from May 9 to 14. Benin, Chad, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo Brazzaville, France, and Gabon are among the countries represented. Sandrin Lekongui, a young Gabonese dancer and choreographer, founded the event in 2005 with the goal of "giving impetus to dance, especially contemporary invention," through training workshops and exchanges between professionals and amateurs. Therefore, at the French Arts Center, participants can take part in numerous artistic activities.
Being one of the most famous festivals in Gabon, the Akini-a-Loubou Festival also aims to bring together the best dancers from Africa, a continent with a strong dance tradition so, during this five-day event, you can attend dancing seminars and witness the top dancers from across the country.
