Festivals
The festivals on this Caribbean island include live music, superb street cuisine, and a party atmosphere, and they have a rich tradition and colorful culture.
The Saint Lucia Jazz Festival has evolved into one of the most important events in the country, as well as one of the most anticipated on the Caribbean calendar. The annual Saint Lucia Jazz Festival invites saxophones, trumpets, and bass guitars from around the world to the Caribbean island. Every year as May approaches, Saint Lucia Jazz piques international attention as the globe awaits the announcement of the regular star-studded roster. Previous configurations have included R&B and jazz singer Ledisi, trumpeter Etienne Charles, and six-time Grammy-winning bassist Christian McBride.
Another well-known festival in Saint Lucia is Roots & Soul. The three-day Roots & Soul event in St Lucia is dedicated to musicians who are breaking new ground in reggae, conscious hip-hop, Afropunk, and R&B, and includes performances, master classes, and encounters between artists and other musicians. There will be both free and paid concerts over the island, culminating at the Pigeon Island National Landmark, as with Saint Lucia Jazz.
