Is Saint Lucia safe to visit?
You will be safe when traveling to Saint Lucia, however, you still need to protect yourself from crimes such as murder, armed robbery, and sexual assault.
Make sure your housing is secure and keep at least the same level of personal security awareness as you would in the UK. It is the same if you are staying aboard a yacht. Always be on the lookout. When walking alone, stay away from crowded main highways and remote regions, such as beaches, especially after dark.
Use only licensed cabs, and be especially cautious at late-night street celebrations, especially during festival season. Carry small amounts of cash and jewelry. Leave valuables and travel documents in a hotel safe or a safe deposit box if possible. Before storing your belongings in the hotel safe, make sure it is properly secured.
When driving on the roads, be cautious of potholes and speed bumps. Follow the posted speed restrictions. On minor highways and in rural locations with narrow roads and blind curves, you should exercise extra caution. Pedestrians frequently cross streets, although indications are not always used.
When driving at night, be especially cautious because some roads are not lit. Road signs and hazards may be difficult to see. If you are flagged down by pedestrians, do not stop. When driving, keep your automobile doors locked. If you are in an accident, notify the cops and do not move the car.
