Fight Food Poisoning
Linalool, a chemical present in bergamot, may be useful at destroying some types of bacteria that cause food-borne diseases. The study's findings revealed that bergamot essential oil may be beneficial against certain types of bacteria, but more research is needed.
A 2016 research looked at the effectiveness of several kinds of bergamot essential oil against strains of Listeria monocytogenes, the bacterium that causes listeriosis. Listeria samples from several sources, including fish and poultry, were used by the researchers. The various bergamot formulations demonstrated varying degrees of success in inhibiting the development of the various bacterium species. Given the diversity, the researchers concluded that the efficiency of bergamot essential oil against germs in meals should be calculated.
