Financial Planning for Young Adults Offered By University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Financial Planning for Young Persons (FPYA) was created in collaboration with the CFP Board to give young adults an introduction to basic financial planning ideas. Within a four-week period, the FPYA course is divided into eight modules. Financial goal-setting, saving and investing, budgeting, financial risk, borrowing, and credit are all covered. Because financial planning is such a personal subject, you will be encouraged to identify your own financial goals and objectives while the instructors examine concepts and provide tools to assist you in achieving them.
You'll see a mix of traditional lecture-style videos and video vignettes that introduce financial issues for discussion among participants in each lesson. This course's video vignettes add a new and interesting element. Each vignette depicts a real-life situation in which financial judgments must be made and financial planning principles must be implemented. You'll have to think critically about each scenario and figure out how you'd handle it if you were ever in a similar circumstance.
Finally, the course includes information focused on financial planning career options throughout, including video interviews with actual CFP® practitioners and other professionals working in this exciting and developing field. The class's last module is devoted to the topic of financial planning as a profession.
