Fogo
With a maximum altitude of 2,900 meters above sea level, Fogo, which means "fire," is the most notable of all the Cape Verde islands. The primary attraction here is the volcano Pico de Fogo, which can be climbed in about six hours from the adjacent town of Cha de Caldeiras.
The island's major city is Sao Filipe, which is also home to the island's airport and is Cape Verde's fourth largest city. The island's beaches are breathtaking and definitely worth seeing.
Fogo Island sprung from the sea as a result of a volcanic eruption and is one of Cabo Verde's most famous tourist destinations owing to its volcanic scenery. You can climb an active volcano and experience a different form of entertainment. The island's environment is dominated by the Pico do Fogo volcano (2829m).
Aside from the volcano, the island's native coffee, particular wine, and Portuguese architecture add to the island's flavor. Colonial Guest House and Hotel Xaguate, both Cabo Verde hotels, provide services in Fogo.
