Ribeira Brava
Ribeira Brava, the capital of the island of Sao Nicolau, is a little settlement with a spectacular setting. The city, which is surrounded by mountains, is bustling early in the morning, with vendors setting up and selling from wooden boxes all along the tiny streets.
The brightly colored structures that border the streets of the town center are worth seeing. Tourists will find plenty of places to stay in the city, as well as a contemporary market hall where they can buy food, clothing, and other necessities.
The town of Ribeira Brava, which is both a fishing port and an agricultural hub, is situated on a particularly attractive site: nestled among banana plantations and, higher up, vineyards, the hamlet of Ribeira Brava, with its spruce White Houses, appears to be submerged in a sea of emerald. In recent years, the area has become increasingly touristic.
The beach is skirted by a covered and lively boulevard that leads to a tiny wharf. The historic city stretches along the coastline and a tiny divide dug by Will Ribeira. The existence of mole west of the latter makes access to the sea more secure.
