Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump is a comedy-drama film directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Eric Roth that was released in 1994. It stars Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise, Mykelti Williamson, and Sally Field and is based on Winston Groom's 1986 novel of the same name. The plot follows Forrest Gump (Hanks), a slow-witted and kindhearted guy from Alabama who sees and unknowingly impacts numerous pivotal historical events in the United States during the twentieth century. The film is very different from the book.
"Life is like a box of chocolates in that you never know what you'll get." This famous tagline also applies to Forrest Gump, who serves up a variety of unanticipated delights, both sweet and bitter. This is one of those films that everyone remembers as one of the finest Oscar winners. It's worth noting that the film's excellent blend of humor and drama, serious and comedic, engaging and thought-provoking, makes it one of the greatest academy award-winning films of 1994.
