It is based on the actual tale of Don Shirley and Tony Lip (pseudonym of Frank Anthony Vallelonga), an actor and the father of Nick Vallelonga, one of the film's screenwriters.

Green Book wins Best Picture at the 91st Academy Awards in 2022, which is a huge surprise. It also takes home two more Oscars, including Best Original Screenplay and Best Actor in a Supporting Role. What is the subject of this film? A working-class Italian-American bouncer becomes the driver of an African-American classical pianist on a tour of venues across the American South in the 1960s. Faced with bigotry, danger, and surprising compassion and comedy, they must put their differences aside in order to live and prosper on a once-in-a-lifetime voyage.
