Gerlachovský štít

Gerlachovský štít, also known as Gerlach, is the highest peak in the High Tatras, Slovakia. It is typically listed at 2,655 meters above mean sea level. It is one of the greatest massifs in the Tatras, and is one of the most frequented summits in the High Tatras due to its height, accessibility, and stunning mountain landscape.

Mountain hikers should not miss Gerlachovský štít. The ascent to the summit is only possible with the assistance of a mountain guide, whose services are supplied by the Tatra National Park's Mountain Service. This excursion begins at the mountain hotel Sliezsky dom, which is also the closest cottage. The trail leads to the 15-meter-high Velick waterfall from the valley terrace Kvetnica, from which a tiny unmarked road leads. This leads to the Velická próba, a typical ascent path to the peak's summit.

Of course, in addition to the foregoing, excellent weather and proper conditions are essential. In inclement weather, the ascent is extremely difficult. Summer climb conditions are best from the end of May through the end of September, and sometimes until the end of October. Gerlach can be reached even in the winter, mainly by Batizovska próba. It is more technically difficult than in the summer.
