Lomnický štít is one of Slovakia's tallest and most frequented mountain summits. Its summit is 2634 meters above sea level and is connected by cable car to Tatranská Lomnica, making it the second-highest mountain in the High Tatras after Gerlachovský štít (2655 m).
Since 1940, tourists have used a cable cars to reach the summit. They are permitted to remain on the peak for 50 minutes. The cable car system is usually closed in May for annual maintenance. It is also possible to ascend the peak from Lomnický Saddle, but only with the assistance of a mountain guide.
