German European School Manila
German and foreign students can enroll in the German European School Manila (GESM), a German school that offers a fully bilingual K–12 curriculum in Manila. It is a two-time recipient of the German government's "Excellent German School Abroad" seal, an IB World School, a Cambridge and Edexcel school, and a member of UNESCO-ASPnet.
GESM classes are divided into two parallel branches up until Grade 10, depending on whether English or German is the primary language of instruction. After completing the tenth grade, students can choose to take the IGCSE (International General Certificate for Secondary Education) or the German school-leaving exams.
German European School Manila offers the International Baccalaureate Organization's (IBO) Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP) for students in Grades 11 and 12. The Diploma Program offers History and Biology in German and is available in both English and bilingual versions. The diploma is accepted for admission to universities worldwide, including in German-speaking nations, in either format.
From the Early Years through Grade 10, the English Section provides a comprehensive English educational program. While using the knowledge from the Cambridge Scope and Sequence, children in Early Years and Primary school (ages 3-11) follow the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme as their curriculum framework. In Secondary school (ages 11-16), children follow the Cambridge Education System to get ready for the IGCSE exams that are taken at the end of Grade 10.
The German section is accessible to non-German speakers as well, despite popular belief. For kids who don't know German at all, the kindergarten curriculum is designed to provide them with an immersive learning experience. Under certain circumstances, non-German-speaking students may also be admitted to the lower primary grades.
