Glacier Skywalk

The Glacier Skywalk, the world's largest cantilevered platform, is located above a deep canyon halfway between Jasper and Banff National Parks. Visitors must purchase tickets for a coach-only journey to the overlook at the neighboring Columbia Icefields Centre, which is 6 kilometers to the south, despite its proximity to local road 93.

The platform is consists of a huge, H-shaped polygonal deconstructivist-style corroded steel framework that extends out from the ground and supports a curved tension "glass bridge" that loops around the outside border of the platform roughly 150 degrees. Both platform elements are visually appealing when viewed separately, however the rapid change between them is less successful. The overlook is part of a broader Discovery Walk that includes displays and information on the region's history, geology, and animals.

The platform's outside edge is around 60 meters high vertically, with a total elevation drop of 280 meters to the river at the valley's bottom.
