Good Dog, Carl by Alexandra Day
Good Dog, Carl is the eponymous title of the first book in a series of children's picture books written and illustrated by Alexandra Day, revolving around a Rottweiler dog named Carl and a little girl named Madeleine, who he takes care of. These books are mostly wordless, with the story told through detailed art. Not only are these books beautiful, but Day's positive portrait of a breed is often portrayed in a more negative light.
Table versions of these stories are particularly popular. In addition to the children and Rottweiler lovers who enjoy them, the books are also useful in teaching English as a second language, with Alzheimer's patients and children who have difficulty learning to read.
