Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson is the main character in the fantasy adventure series of American writer Rick Riordan, including the series Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Heroes of Olympus. Percy Jackson is the protagonist of Percy's narration of his own adventures. The concept for The Lightning Thief and the Percy Jackson series was based on the son of author Haley Riordan, who was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. His son was studying Greek mythology and asked him to tell his bedtime stories. When Riordan had finished telling the stories, his son suggested that he write a new series with characters from mythology along with new characters. This is the premise for Riordan to write a series of books about the adventures of Percy Jackson.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians are Rick Riordan's first series for children. The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series have sold 30 million copies (as of June 1, 2012) occupying 153 weeks on the New York Times Best Sellers list for children's books.
