Grace Kelly
Grace Kelly's wedding gown, worn on April 19, 1956, during her wedding to Prince Rainier III of Monaco, is regarded as one of the most gorgeous and well-remembered bridal dresses of all time, and one of the most renowned since the mid-twentieth century. According to one scholar, the gown was a symbol of "marriage ardor" and had a significant impact on women who tried to "emulate Kelly's peau de soie and lace masterpiece." Helen Rose of MGM created the design. A bodice with an attached under-bodice and skirt support made up the outfit. One of the petticoats was linked to the foundation. She wore a hat, veil, shoes, and a lace and pearl-encrusted prayer book down the aisle as part of her bridal gown.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art (which currently owns the dress) showed it at the museum between 1 April and 21 May 2006 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the wedding, and it was reportedly its most popular exhibit. The garment is still significant after 50 years; Catherine Middleton's wedding gown, which she wore on April 29, 2011, when she married Prince William, was claimed to be influenced by it.
