The Castel Group was founded in 1949. For more than six decades, the company has committed its expertise and efforts to spreading the word about French wines over the world, as well as expanding the soft drink and beer businesses in Africa. With a varied portfolio of acclaimed Châteaux and brands and a presence in more than 130 countries, Castel is a globally recognized beverage brand and one of the world's biggest beer companies.

The majority of Groupe Castel's beer is produced in Africa, where the firm grew by purchasing Brasseries et Glacières Internationales in 1990. (BGI). Flag and Castel are two of the company's most well-known and long-lasting beer brands.
