Guardian: The Lonely and Great God
Guardian: The Lonely and Great God is a South Korean television series starring Gong Yoo, Kim Go-eun, Lee Dong-wook, Yoo In-na, and Yook Sung-jae. From December 2, 2016, through January 21, 2017, it aired on the cable network tvN. Kim Eun-sook, a well-known drama writer, wrote it. Guardian's last episode had a countrywide audience share of 18.68 percent, making it the sixth best-rated drama in Korean cable television history. It was met with critical praise and quickly became a cultural phenomenon in South Korea. At the 53rd Baeksang Arts Honors, the drama received multiple awards, including the Grand Prize (Daesang) for writer Kim Eun-sook and Best Actor for Gong Yoo.
Goblin (also known as Guardian: The Lonely and Great God) is possibly one of the finest dramas in the pantheon of South Korean fantasy shows. It chronicles the narrative of Kim Shin (Gong Yoo). He is a distinguished military general from the past who has been cursed with immortality as a punishment for all the lives he has taken. At the age of 939, he transforms into the Goblin, the protector of souls on the hunt for a wife who may break his enchantment. The show amassed a massive cult following, becoming a cultural phenomenon in South Korea and one of the highest-rated shows in the country. The show was also known for its notable comedy moments.
