The Legend of the Blue Sea
The Legend of the Blue Sea is a South Korean television series that aired from 2016 to 2017. It stars Jun Ji-hyun and Lee Min-ho. This drama portrays the love story of a con artist and a mermaid who goes across the ocean to find him, based on a legendary Joseon legend from Korea's earliest collection of unofficial historical tales about a fisherman who captures and releases a mermaid. From November 16, 2016, through January 25, 2017, the series broadcast every Wednesday and Thursday at 22:00 on SBS (KST). The series received a maximum audience rating of 21.0 percent.
The Legend of the Blue Sea takes a fresh look at timeframes and mermaids. It tells the story of a mermaid (Jun Ji-hyun) who falls in love with a man (Lee Min-ho) and would go to any length to be with him, even if it means risking her life. In the timeline twist, a man and a mermaid fell in love during the Joseon era, and the current pair does the same. These two timelines are linked in some way. The Legend of the Blue Sea delves into the idea that history repeats itself and whether or not you can avoid fate. There's also a lot of comedy, action, adventure, romance, and drama in there, so it's definitely worth a binge-watch.
